The 2018 EE BAFTA Film Awards took place last night (February 19) at London's Royal Albert Hall, and attendees including Helena Bonham Carter wore black again in support of the #MeToo movement and its spiritual successor #TimesUp.

However, we couldn't help but notice Helena's accessory – a bag emblazoned with the word 'Queen' – and whether it was a nod to her rumoured role as Princess Margaret in season 3 of The Crown.

Last month, it was reported that Helena was in talks for the role, and "all but confirmed" to become Princess Margaret in the show's third season alongside Olivia Colman as Elizabeth II.

There's still no official confirmation from Netflix, though The Crown star Vanessa Kirby followed the "all but confirmed" reports with a pretty huge hint that Helena is taking over the role of Princess Margaret...

Alongside the words "Honoured", Vanessa shared a photo of herself and Helena on Instagram, and even tagged the official The Crown account in the caption.

Vanessa played Queen Elizabeth II's younger sister Princess Margaret in seasons one and two of The Crown, but the role will be taken over in season three as the series jumps forward in time to focus on the later years of the Queen's reign.

As for the Queen herself, Claire Foy has already found her royal successor in the form of Broadchurch star Colman.

Matt Smith's replacement as Prince Philip has yet to be announced, after Paul Bettany reportedly dropped out of talks due to schedule conflicts.

The Crown is available to stream on Netflix now.
