Digital Easterhouse map shows what the area really has for locals - but more playparks needed
A digital map which shows all the parks Easterhouse has to offer, plus community resources and health centres has been created.
Jordan Shaw, who is a project co-ordinator for local charity The Pavillion, has helped work on the map, on behalf of the Blairtummock and Rogerfield Partnership, which helps show off all the assets Easterhouse has, but also where it could improve.
The map, which is free to use, shows that the area has "ample green space" but is lacking playparks for kids, which could lead to their "disengagement from their environment," according to Jordan.

Jordan told Glasgow Live: "We work with a partnership of organisations in Easterhouse where we talk to the community about what we have now and how it might change due to climate change, and how we'd like to see Easterhouse change.
"We've done a lot of workshops, events and gone to schools to find out what they think of the area, what's good and what needs to change.
"So I wanted to make the map to highlight what we've already got and what we would like to have.
"One of the most common things that people of all ages said when we spoke to them is that there is a lack of quality play spaces for kids and families - this is one of the things I wanted to highlight with the map.
"And this is something we want to address as part of our projects, we're working on the Blairtummock park area which is near out building, and consulting with architects to construct a large scale destination playpark in the area.
"People have been saying to us that 'we really need this' and everyone thinks the idea of it is amazing.
"The kids really need something to do, and the swimming pool is running at reduced hours. More activities for people to do is what's needed."
The map is ever growing, and Jordan is looking at ways to make it as accessible to view as possible, including creating a QR code that can be distributed.
And he says even locals who have lived in the area for decades have discovered new information about the area.
Jordan added: "There is a focus on climate, so we are interested in starting a forest school to make use of all the green space. It was only when I first started working on the map I realised how lucky we are and how much green space there is.

"With the map, I'm quite happy with how it's looking. I've spoke to people and got some feedback and I sent it to a housing association who thought it was fantastic and ideal for their tenants, especially for people moving into Easterhouse.
"People have also been saying that they've lived in Easterhouse for years and found out new things about the area too.
"The plan is to get a QR code that can be distributed around Easterhouse, so people can find all these organisations."
