Dior is heading to London.

Traditionally held in Paris, this year, on December 9, Dior Men’s will hold its runway show in London.

It marks a return for creative director Kim Jones, who was born in the city, and rose up fashion’s ranks through its institutions. Having graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2002, he went on to show with the collective Fashion East before securing his role as creative director at British Menswear brand Alfred Dunhill.

Jones went on to become the style director of the men’s ready-to-wear at Louis Vuitton in 2011, and in 2018 started as artistic director of Dior Menswear which continues today. “I can’t wait to do a show in my hometown," the (very busy) designer, who is also the artistic director of Fendi’s womenswear, says of the news.

For his past seasons at the French house, Jones’ shows have been defined by A-list collaborations, with artists including Daniel Arsham, KAWS and Hajime Sorayama, as well as designers like Shawn Stussy. These have also been held in a handful of host cities, from Miami to Tokyo. This year’s collab - if there is one - is yet to be announced.

“We are delighted to be presenting our Fall men’s collection abroad once again, and to be reconnecting with the ‘physical’ runway, an experience that is more important than ever,” says Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture. “We are proud and excited to be bringing this unique event to life in London, a particularly symbolic destination dear to Monsieur Dior and the House since 1947.” It was then that the first Dior show was held in the United Kingdom, attended by the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.

The move follows suit with Alexander McQueen, another luxury giant who made a trip over the channel to show in London this October, for the first time in five years.

“London is of course also the city closest to Kim Jones’ heart,” Beccari continues. “Where he was born and where he lives, which inspires him with its inexhaustible creativity and which he loves deeply.”
