Yahoo News Dior teams up with the Louvre to help restore Tuileries Garden
Dior has announced plans to help restore Tuileries Garden, one of the largest and oldest public parks in Paris. The French fashion house has teamed up with the Musée du Louvre for the five-year project, which will see the reopening of the wooded area of the park, as well as a number of other restorations.
"This patronage brings home a message that is more vital now than ever," the house said in a statement to WWD. "Each of us can be an agent of change for the ecosystems of tomorrow, whether natural or cultural."
This move comes after Dior staged a spring/summer 2020 catwalk show that also celebrated nature by creating a garden, after which 164 trees were replanted across the French capital. It will stage its next show this week inside Tuileries Garden.
Tuileries Garden was created in 1564 and was first known for hosting lavish royal parties, before becoming a public park after the French revolution. Since 1991, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage List and welcomes up to 14 million visitors a year.
