Disbelief as Madonna tour outfits show up in Salford charity shop for just £7.50
It’s fair to say there are a few charity shops across Greater Manchester that offer up a varied selection of impressive vintage and pre-loved finds. But not all of them can say they’ve had a donation of clothes from pop royalty.
Music superstar Madonna took over Manchester’s AO Arena for a week in October last year, as she and her team conducted a series of dress rehearsals and run-throughs ahead of the debut of her huge eagerly-anticipated Celebration tour in London the same month.
The show, which celebrated the singer’s 42-year legacy, travelled across the world and featured renditions of some of her best-loved hits including Vogue, Hung Up and Material Girl.
But it appears Madge also left a legacy in Greater Manchester.

Now, a number of items from the Manchester dress rehearsal residency have appeared within the racks of the Children’s Air Ambulance charity shop in Salford this weekend.
Amongst the vast collection of goods are a series of skirts, jumpers, trousers, shirts and accessories - with a number of items curated by New York fashion designer Daang Goodman under her streetwear brand Tripp NYC. Prices for some of the items are as low as £7.50.
Whilst it cannot be confirmed whether any of the items were specifically worn by Madonna herself, they were likely created for different incarnations of the Celebration tour and potentially worn by or bought for her dancers or team during the rehearsal phase.
One shopper, Alex Fisher, was browsing the charity shop on Friday afternoon (November 8) when she came across the collection of clothes, which were labelled by staff to say they had been 'donated to us from the dress rehearsals at the AO Arena for Madonna's Celebration tour '23'.
Posting about her haul on TikTok, PR manager Alex posted: ‘Clothes from Madonna’s tour in a Manchester charity shop!!! Appaz she wore some of these."
Speaking to the M.E.N, Alex said she ended up buying a yellow and black plaid skirt and a feather boa for the combined total of just £11. She said she still can’t get over the ‘bizarre’ discovery.
“It’s my local charity shop which I go to pretty often and I just stumbled upon the rack and thought it was so cool,” she explained. “I am a big music fan and it felt bizarre to see clothes from Madonna’s tour in a Salford charity shop.
“A member of staff told me that they had some more and even weirder items from the tour in the back which they had yet to put out, and there are videos of Madonna herself wearing some of the pieces.”
Speaking about her purchases, she added: “I had to get a boa and the skirt. The skirt feels so expensive because of all of the details with the safety pins, I’ve never seen anything like it in a charity shop! I’m going to style it with a chunky knitted jumper and boots. And I love an accessory so the boa was a no brainer - it feels kinda like a piece of history!”
Amongst the rest of the items were a pair of fetish-style leather shorts, which one TikTok follower suggested could have been made by R & M Leathers and be worth around £500, and a number of T-shirts priced at just £7.50.
Posting on their own Facebook page with plenty of references to Madonna’s back catalogue, the Salford charity shop wrote: “Are you a Material Girl or do you just like to Strike A Pose? We’ve got you covered. We have been donated some amazing pieces from the dress rehearsal of Madonna’s Celebration tour at the AO Arena.
“So tell your Papa Don’t Preach and come take a look at what we’ve got. Express yourself and Cherish your life saving purchase. You’ll find us at the Children's Air Ambulance charity store on Regent Road Retail Park, Regent Road, Salford, M5 3TP.”
Alex’s followers were keen to share their excitement for the collection of goods. One person commented: “That plaid skirt is UNREAL.” Another said: “If you bought any of these I would literally buy them off you.”
Another wrote: “Omg I would have bought the beige Tripps.” One other posted: “Omg. Did it say £7.50 or £750?”. Another added: “That stripe jumper would of gone home with me.”
