AN appeal has been launched after a cafe worker at one of the town's most popular beauty spots was allegedly attacked on a boiling hot day.

Hundreds of people from Swindon and beyond have descended on Coate Water with temperatures soaring into the 30s this weekend - but on Saturday one of them is said to have crossed a line with their behaviour.

A post on the Coate Water Cafe Facebook page asked for anyone else who may have seen the incident to get in touch - although it did not say at what time it took place.

It said: "This afternoon one of our hard-working, lovely staff members has been physically assaulted and grabbed over the counter by a customer.

"We would like to speak to anybody who witnessed this today and has any information about the incident as we will be contacting the police to report the assault.

"Today is one of the hottest days of the year, our staff work so so hard in a busy and extremely hot kitchen environment, we are absolutely disgusted at this behaviour and we will not tolerate it.

"If you were in the park and witnessed this today, please do send us a message, thank you."
