Disgusted Diner Shows What KFC's Ricebox Meal Actually Looks Like

Can you tell which one is the advert and what was actually served up to a KFC customer?

It shouldn’t be that hard - because the real ricebox meal he received looks absolutely nothing like the promo.

Its limp pieces of battered chicken are covered in a sickening-looking white sauce, next to over-cooked rice.

It made the diner so angry that he posted a comparison snap on Reddit. And it’s now gone viral with hundreds of other customers echoing his thoughts.

Redditor atheistlee uploaded the image under the subject: “What I thought I was eating, what I actually got.”

“It cost me £6.09 which is about $9.25. I don’t expect it to look perfect, but I do expert more than a tiny scoop of rice and half a chicken breast,” he wrote.

“The portion size was mainly the reason why I was p****d and for those asking it didn’t really taste very good either, the chicken was very tough and rice stone cold,” he added.

“This is unacceptable, even by fast food’s awful standards. Send this pic to KFC corporate and I’m sure they’ll make good on it and get you comped for some free meals,” wrote one commenter.

“I work at a KFC, and if someone from our store made this, someone would be fired. And you would get alot of free food,” added another.

Not all were sympathetic, however.

“If you expect any fast food to look like commercial you are smoking crack,” wrote one Redditor.

And another added: “To be fair when I tried it the one I had looked a lot closer to the advert than this mess.”

Atheistlee is believed to be from the UK, but it’s not known which branch the ricebox was bought at.

The snack launched in the UK and Ireland over the summer. It can be bought for £4.49 on its own or with a drink for £4.99.

A KFC spokesperson said it was “really sorry about this.”

“Clearly this ricebox was not served as it should have been and we are in contact with the customer to apologise,” she said.

“We are also reminding all of our restaurants of the right way to serve Riceboxes.

“We always want our customers to be happy with both the look and taste of their food so this is very disappointing,” she added.
