Live-action adaptations of classic Disney animations are becoming an increasingly common event, what with Cinderella, Jungle Book and the box office smash Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson as Belle.

And now that there's a real-life reimagining of The Little Mermaid in the works, Disney fans reckon they've found the perfect person to play Prince Eric – and it's actual Superman himself, Henry Cavill.

Yep, fans are already sharing their dream casting, suggesting that the 34-year-old actor should swap the sky for the sea – after all, in the immortal words of Sebastian: "Life under the sea is better than anything they've got up there."

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "I always felt like Henry Cavill would make a perfect Prince Eric," while someone else tweeted the House of Mouse, saying: "Please cast Henry Cavill as Prince Eric in the live action version of The Little Mermaid!"

Another fan added: "If Disney could do one thing, it's to cast Henry Cavill as Prince Eric in the live-action remake."

And that's not all, fans of the Man of Steel also reckon Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's DC films, is the perfect choice for Ariel too.

So Disney, what more is you lookin' for?!

It comes after Lindsay Lohan revealed that she wants to be part of the Disney live-action world, angling for her "dream role" of Ariel.

The only big name attached to the Disney reimagining so far is Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is working on a mix of classic songs from the 1989 animation and brand new hits alongside original composer Alan Menken.
