It's never too early to start planning ahead for the festive season, and Disney has been doing just that by welcoming a new addition to the cast of The Santa Clauses.

Tim Allen's Christmas comedy has just announced 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan will join season 2 in an unexpected role. The comedian is set to play the Easter bunny, though it hasn't been revealed how the hopping character will tie in with the Christmas celebrations (via Deadline).

Premiering in November last year, The Santa Clauses follows Allen as Scott Calvin aka Santa Clause, with the Toy Story star reprising the role from The Santa Clause film series. During the six-episode run, Santa has to find a suitable replacement to take on his mantle as he's planning on retiring.

Created by Jack Burditt, who worked alongside Morgan on 30 Rock, The Santa Clauses also stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra Calvin Claus, Austin Kane as Cal Calvin Claus, and Devin Bright as Santa's elf bestie Noel.

These cast members are joined by new series regulars Eric Stonestreet as Magnus Antas, aka The Mad Santa, and Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias as Kris 'Kringle' Moreno. Station Eleven's Matilda Lawler is also set to reprise the role of Santa's chief of staff, elf Betty, from season one.

Last year, the series was renewed for a second chapter within one month of premiering on Disney+, but it hasn't been unveiled when this new batch of episodes will land on the streamer just yet.
