Disney will let you have the full Star Wars experience with its upcoming theme park attractions - including the chance to run in fear from The Empire.

The House of Mouse is currently in construction on massive Star Wars Land expansions at its parks in Anaheim, CA and Orlando, FL ahead of a big opening date in 2019.

We've seen plenty of concept art, but now Disney is offering the first actual look at the real-life attraction with a behind-the-scenes featurette - and it's terrifying!

Visitors will actually encounter The Empire's giant-sized AT-AT walkers, which snuffed out plenty of Rebel Alliance officers in the original trilogy.

In the video above, you can see the walkers in their current form, and what they'll look once construction is finally completed on Star Wars Land. Here's a handy comparison:

The attraction creates a brand new planet from the Star Wars Universe, where you'll have to choose sides in an actual between between the First Order and the Resistance.

On its official theme park blog today, Disneyland's PR director George Savvas offered even more details: "We're also creating two incredible new signature attractions: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

"With so much activity across our 14-acre construction sites as this new world is created, we wanted to show you how things are shaping up in this exclusive video – and you may not believe what you're looking AT-AT."

This attraction is nearly 40 years in the making for Star Wars fans, and will follow the opening of Disney's similarly immersive Pandora – The World of Avatar and a new Guardians of the Galaxy freefall ride.

Star Wars Land will have its own opening day in 2019 simultaneously at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida and at Disneyland in Anaheim, California - the same year as Episode IX hits cinemas in the UK and the US.
