Disruption warning issued as major Leicestershire road set to close
A major Leicestershire road is set for close ahead of vital roadworks lasting several weeks. National Highways has issued a warning drivers who use the A46 ahead of the project's start.
The closures, which begin on Monday, September 16, will see National Highways enforce full carriageway closures on the A46 between M1 Junction 21a and the A607 Charnwood Edge Business Park. The road will be closed until Tuesday, October 1.
The works will be carried out between 8pm and 6am from Monday to Friday for five nights from September 16, for three nights from September 23, for one night on September 30 and for one night on October 1. Fully signed diversions will be in place during the closures, National Highways has advised.

A spokesperson for National Highways said they would be resurfacing sections of the carriageway and refreshing the road markings to provide a smoother, safer carriageway for road users. They added access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.
The spokesperson said: "We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
