Diver Tom Daley Engaged To Long-Term Boyfriend

British diver and TV personality Tom Daley has become engaged to long-term boyfriend Dustin Lance Black.

The 21-year-old, who qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics in August, made the announcement in the births, marriages and deaths section of The Times newspaper.

The notice reads: "The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence."

Daley and American Black, who is 41, have been going out for around two years and share a home in London.

Black is a screenwriter, director, film and television producer and LGBT rights activist.

He shot to fame after winning an Academy Award for best original screenplay in 2008 for the film Milk, about the life of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk.

Daley first revealed he was gay in a YouTube video in 2013 in which he said he was "dating a guy and couldn't be happier".

He secured his place at Rio by reaching the final of the 10-metre platform event at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan.

Daley burst on to the diving scene by winning European 10m Platform gold as a 13-year old in 2008 and then reaching the Olympic final on his debut at Beijing 2008, ultimately finishing seventh.

The following year he became Great Britain's first individual World Championship gold medallist, winning the 10m Platform title in Rome.

In 2012, he won the overall FINA World Series title as well as his second European gold before qualifying for London 2012 with gold at the British Gas Diving Championships in Sheffield.

It was at the London Olympics where Daley won the hearts of the British public, winning an emotional, last-gasp bronze medal in the 10m Platform.

Last year he won silver and bronze medals in the World Series before defending his individual Commonwealth 10m Platform title in Glasgow.
