Diversity star Jordan Banjo has opened up about his fiancée Naomi Courts becoming seriously ill with sepsis after the birth of their second child, revealing that she was almost put into a medically induced coma.
Naomi was in hospital for "the better half of a month" following the birth of the couple's daughter Mimi in July 2019 after suffering from sepsis, which is a life-threatening reaction to an infection which causes your immune system to start to damage your body's own tissues and organs.
Speaking to OK! Online, Jordan revealed that Naomi actually suffered from sepsis twice, explaining that she went into hospital six weeks after Mimi's birth.
"She spent the better half of a month in hospital because she got really really ill really quickly," he said. "Na [his affectionate name for Naomi] is okay now. I won't lie, at one point we were in hospital and it was a little bit touch and go. They were talking about, particularly, induced comas and stuff like that."
The dancer and former The Greatest Dancer host praised his fiancée for her strength, saying that he has "nothing but respect for her".
"Na was in a really tough spot but she came back from hospital and within a week she was like, 'You need to go back to work, you need to do this and you need to do that'," he said. "As much as I take the mick, I've got nothing but respect for her.
"I think everything has kind of found its level now. Having young kids is hard for any parent, but I feel like we've found a balance."
Jordan and Naomi got engaged in January this year after seven years of dating, with Jordan sharing a sweet photo of the couple on holiday in the Maldives on Instagram, which showed the words "WILL U MARRY ME?" written in the background.
As well as baby daughter Mayowa Angel, known as Mimi, the couple also share two-year-old son Cassius Ashley, who was born in May 2018.
