DJ i_o death: Music Producer Garrett Lockhart found dead aged 30

DJ i_o, real name Garrett Lockhart, has been found dead aged 30.

No cause of death has been given for the EDM music artist, whose work includes the 2019 track Violence, a collaboration with singer Grimes.

A statement on his Instagram account said: “On Monday, November 23rd, the world lost a beautiful soul, Garrett Falls Lockhart, also known as i_o.

"This extremely talented spirit taught us that even if nothing matters, you can still lead with love.

"Garrett's truth and soul lives on through the music he shared.

"Rest in peace Garrett. We love you.”

i_o had released his latest single Castles In The Sky at the weekend, and played his first live show in nine months just 10 days before his death.

The performance came after months of not being able to perform live due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

Last week he posted a picture of himself at the turntables on Instagram captioned: “do u ever question ur life? [sic]”

The Washington DC musician – whose other tracks include Low, Death by Techno and Don't Stop – also performed under the name Fawks, and collaborated on deadmau5's mau5trap album.

i_o had recently signed to dance music label Armada Music and launched his own Label 444 imprint.
