Tony Blackburn has said that sleeping with 500 women – at one time, around four per week – is really ‘not that many’.

The former Radio 1 DJ, now 75, revisited comments made in his 2007 autobiography Poptastic! adding that he still has ‘no regrets’.

“It’s not that many,” he told The Sun.

“I wasn’t married. I was free and easy… I don’t see anything wrong. I don’t regret any of it at all.”

Blackburn was at his most prolific following the break up of his marriage to Tessa Wyatt in 1977, claiming in the book that he’d bedded the 500 women.

“Four different partners each week was my chief way of staving off the sadness. (But) if you work out the average, it’s not fantastic!” he went on.

“Attitudes have changed. It’s become much more PC now, hasn’t it? Anything you say upsets somebody nowadays.

“I can see the point of view, but it was a totally different era. I went out with a lot of girls but I was single. It’s the most natural thing to do.

“All my friends were going out with different people as well. Then, when I eventually met somebody and married them, I was very faithful.”

Blackburn won the 2002 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, and still hosts the Sounds of the 60s show for Radio 2 on Saturday mornings, and also the Golden Hour show on Fridays.
