Tennis player Novak Djokovic left detention in Melbourne on January 10 after a federal court quashed an earlier decision to cancel his visa, amid a controversy over his COVID-19 vaccination status.
This footage first shows supporters of Djokovic celebrating outside the federal courthouse in the minutes after the judgment was announced.
It then shows supporters celebrating in Federation Square, before they made their way to a building bounded by Collins Street and Flinders Lane that was reported to house the player’s lawyers’ offices.
Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke was considering the situation, the ABC said.
“Following today’s Federal Circuit and Family Court determination on a procedural ground, it remains within Immigration Minister Hawke’s discretion to consider cancelling Mr Djokovic’s visa,” a spokesman was quoted by the ABC as saying. Credit: Yumi Hung via Storyful
