DLR status: TfL commuters face transport chaos as signal failure sparks closure of entire DLR network

Commuters faced transport chaos this morning as the entire Docklands Light Railway was suspended due to a signal failure.

The problem at West India Quay forced services to be suspended on all routes while engineers worked to fix it during the morning rush hour.

Transport chiefs apologised for the disruption and said tickets were being accepted on the London Underground.

The Jubilee line was hit with huge queues eastbound as a result of the DLR suspension, as thousands of Londoners attempted to get to work in Canary Wharf.

London City Airport warned passengers to allow extra time for travel, and said the roads around the airport were also busier as a result.

The problem began at around 7.30am, with all DLR routes suspended due to the signal failure. Some routes resumed with severe delays for an hour before the whole line was suspended again at 9am due to the on-going issue.

The DLR tweeted: “We are doing everything we can to restore services as quickly as possible.

"There's now no service on all routes of the line due to the signal failure. London Underground are accepting valid DLR tickets via any reasonable route.

“Tickets will also be accepted on Southeastern & Buses.”

The network later resumed a full service in time for the evening rush hour after the signal failure was fixed.
