DLR strike: RMT union members to hold fresh 48-hour walkout in pay row

Workers on London's Docklands Light Railway are set to stage a new 48-hour strike as part of an ongoing dispute over pay.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) employed as cleaners, security staff and travel officers will walk out at 5.30am on Thursday.

The union said there had been a breakdown in industrial relations with contractors ISS.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: "We are supporting our members in this further phase of strike action in a bid to force management to honour agreements, pay staff their contractual hours and give their staff proper respect and dignity at work."

The workers also went on strike at the beginning of the month and on New Year's Eve.

Mark Davis, Interim General Manager of DLR, previously said: "This issue is between the RMT Union and ISS, the KeolisAmey Docklands contractor which provides cleaning and security staff on the DLR.

"We have been assured this will not have an impact on our customers or the DLR service. We urge all parties to sit down and talk through the issues to try and resolve them as soon as possible.”
