Legend. Icon. The sports world is honoring legendary rapper DMX, who died Friday at the age of 50. The Grammy-nominated artist suffered a heart attack at his home on April 2 and was in a coma for seven days. His family said he was on life support.

DMX, born with the birth name Earl Simmons, "was a warrior who fought till the very end," his family said in a statement. Tributes and honors poured in from athletes, including Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, after news of his death.
