Doc Martin's ninth series officially has a premiere date, and you won't have long to wait at all.
Martin Clunes' grumpy GP Dr Martin Ellingham will officially return to ITV for series 9 on Wednesday, September 25, it has been announced.
The channel revealed the news on Twitter alongside a new picture of the main cast – and a rather unhappy looking doggie.
Clunes revealed in late July that the latest series had finished filming and promised at the time that it was "coming soon". Well, he certainly wasn't wrong.
The ITV show was filming in Port Isaac, Cornwall, which serves as the backdrop for the series' fictional setting of Portwenn.
Speaking previously of returning to film the show, Clunes said: "We love going to Cornwall to make Doc Martin, and we miss it when we are not there. The county is so beautiful and the people have been so warm and welcoming to us.
"It is the best job in television."
Also returning for the ninth series are Caroline Catz, Dame Eileen Atkins, Ian McNeice, John Marquez and Jessica Ransom.
We just wonder if they'll be able to squeeze another Sigourney Weaver cameo in too for good measure – after all, she has appeared in the series twice before.
