ITV have announced new drama Viewpoint, which will be led by Doctor Who and Bulletproof star Noel Clarke.
The five-part series, which is based on an idea from Killing Eve and Fleabag director Harry Bradbeer and is co-created and written by Ed Whitmore (Safe House), will see Clarke play surveillance detective DC Martin King.
In it, he sets up his observation post in the home of single mum and secret voyeur Zoe Sterling (Alexandra Roach). There, he has a sightline to the home of missing primary school teacher Gemma Hillman (Amy Wren), which she shares with her boyfriend and prime suspect in her disappearance, Greg Sullivan (Fehinti Balogun).
ITV described the series as "a contemporary, character-driven mystery with a seductively intimate feel" that mines the "paranoid hinterland of Rear Window and The Lives of Others".
Clarke also joins the likes of Catherine Tyldesley (Coronation Street), Bronagh Waugh (The Fall), Sarah Niles (Trust Me), Shannon Murray (EastEnders), Phil Davis (Poldark), Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth), Dominic Allburn (Jack Irish: Dead Point), Marcus Garvey (Broadchurch), Carlyss Peer (The Feed) and Erin Shanagher (The Bay) in the drama.
"Harry and Ed have crafted a compelling, tense, claustrophobic thriller that turns the spotlight on the observer rather than the observed," said executive producer and head of drama, Tiger Aspect Productions Lucy Bedford.
"With the incredible Noel Clarke and Alexandra Roach leading the cast, we are extremely excited to be back in production."
Filming has already begun on Viewpoint as it becomes the first ITV drama to enter production since the lockdown.
