Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston has teamed up with Worlds of DC's Connie Nielsen for a brand new drama heading to Channel 4, and it sounds like a good'un.

Eccleston and Nielsen, who has played Hippolyta in the likes of Wonder Woman and Justice League, are set to star as the leads of "psychological suspense drama" Close to Me, based on Amanda Reynolds' best-selling novel of the same name.

The upcoming six-part series will see Nielsen take on the role of Jo Harding, a woman who seems to have it all – a beautiful house in the country, a loving family, and Rob, her devoted husband (Eccleston).

Unsurprisingly, Jo's life isn't as idyllic as it sounds, with things coming to a head after she has a fall, prompting an entire year to "suddenly vanish" from her memory.

"As she struggles to piece events together, Jo discovers that her life wasn't quite as perfect as she imagined," the synopsis teases, "and that someone will do all they can to keep a terrible secret from her."

Close to Me, set to be directed by The Missing's Michael Samuels, will also star Doctor Foster's Tom Taylor and Rosy McEwen as Jo and Rob's children Finn and Sash, respectively.

Unforgotten's Susan Lynch will play Jo's best friend Cathy, Cold Feet's Leanne Best takes on Rob's co-worker Anna, and Danish actor Henning Jensen will appear as Jo's father Frederik.

Stars from the likes of His Dark Materials, Agents of SHIELD, and Liar have also joined the impressive line-up.

Close to Me has been adapted for television by Angela Pell, while Kingdom's Gina Carter will serve as executive producer. A release date is yet to be confirmed, but hey, we're excited anyway.
