Many of us continue to work from home and often find ourselves slouching in our chairs, leading to poor posture and potential back issues.

Fortunately, Dr. Michael Rowe has shared a straightforward exercise on TikTok that could be the answer to maintaining good posture while sitting at your desk.

He said: "Here's a simple exercise that you can do throughout the day to not only improve but to also maintain your posture. The great part is you can do this one standing or seated."

Dr. Rowe proceeds to detail the movement which begins with arms outstretched as if to clap. "Put your shoulders forward reaching in front of you as much as you can until you feel a deep stretch form right in between your shoulder blades," he explained, emphasizing how important it is to hold this position for a few seconds before drawing the shoulder blades back together.

He also notes the repetition of these movements can be beneficial. And for those seeking additional chair-based workouts, look no further than a popular Japanese mobility exercise that's been used for over a century to promote a healthier body.

Japanese Radio Taiso, a quick and effective exercise routine, is the perfect addition to your daily regimen. The workout was inspired by the US insurance company Metropolitan Life, which used to air morning exercises, gaining popularity in Japan, China, and Taiwan.

Radio Taiso is a straightforward Japanese exercise routine aimed at enhancing flexibility, balance, and overall physical health. Traditionally performed to a brief musical broadcast, it includes light, rhythmic movements suitable for all ages.

In fact, it's designed for all levels, and can even be done while seated. You can find out more about it here.
