Doctor shares simple way to speed up hair growth and it costs just £1
If you're finding it difficult to grow your hair, a medical professional has revealed a simple change to your hair washing routine that could make all the difference.
Hair loss and stunted growth can be incredibly frustrating, especially with the plethora of products on the market promising to help - but where should one begin?
One doctor suggests that adding a teaspoon of coffee to your shampoo could significantly boost hair growth. Dr Janine Bowring explained why on TikTok.
Androgenetic alopecia, also known as AGA, is the most common type of hair loss in both men and women. "In men, it's called male pattern baldness, and in women, it's female pattern hair loss," she clarified.
She noted that it "usually starts with the temple area" in men, and "over time that hairline recedes to form that characteristic 'M' shape". The hair also "thins on top of the head", and in women, the hair loss typically occurs "at the top of the head" where the hair gradually becomes "more and more sparse".
"So, caffeine has been proven to help with that hair growth," she stated, presenting a study on the screen that supported her claims. "My tip here is to add just a teaspoon of ground coffee into your shampoo when you're shampooing your hair, and then wash it out," she advised.
Dr Bowring added that "it will make the hair a little bit darker", so it would work "best for dark hair". Shoppers can find a straightforward jar of instant coffee for approximately £1 at the supermarket, although they should anticipate shelling out a bit more for branded options.
One curious user queried in the comments section: "Do you put it inside the shampoo bottle or on your hand with the shampoo to wash your hair?" To this, Dr Bowring responded: "You can put it in your hand with the shampoo".
Someone else, documenting their hair growth regimen, contributed: "I put rosemary essential oil in my shampoo, and my hair is coming back. I'll have to try the coffee too. Thank you!!"
