Samantha Spiro has already seen the rise of ice and fire in Game of Thrones but she'll soon be smack-dab in the middle of time and space on Doctor Who.

Spiro let slip during an appearance on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday (May 3) that she's filmed a Doctor Who episode, although she was suitably cryptic in terms of character details (via the Radio Times).

"I'll be in this series of Doctor Who," she revealed, hinting: "I can't say how, I can't say who, I can't say where."

Hopefully her character has it easier than having to live under the rule of House Tarly. Spiro has appeared in Game of Thrones as Samwell Tarly's bullied mum Melessa in the past.

The stage and screen veteran also plays Barbara Windsor in the upcoming BBC TV biopic Babs, which will also feature Jaime Winstone as a younger version of the soap legend.

Spiro joins an impressive crop of guest stars for Doctor Who's tenth series, including the return of both Michelle Gomez as Missy and John Simm as The Master.

This weekend's episode 'Knock Knock' features David Suchet as the creepy Landlord. Suchet revealed this week that he agreed to do Doctor Who without even reading a script.

Doctor Who continues on Saturday on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US. Watch a teaser for 'Knock Knock' below:
