Rejoice, Whovians and Moffat defenders! The newest trailer for Doctor Who series 10 has materialised with a loud whirring noise.

And what's this? Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor... regenerating?!

When Capaldi announced that he was leaving the show, he said that the Christmas special would be his last episode, so unless they've secretly filmed it already, maybe Capaldi will leave earlier than we thought.

Or... maybe this is another one of Doctor Who's famous red herrings.

Cast your mind back to 2008's 'The Stolen Earth' when David Tennant's Tenth Doctor was shot by a Dalek and began regenerating just before the credits rolled.

The whole week between that episode and 'Journey's End' airing, everyone went absolutely crazy about who had replaced Tennant, only for the episode to air and... all the regeneration energy went into his severed hand.

But if the show is going to pull that trick again, why would they show it off in a trailer? Maybe they want us to think that this is #FakeDeath and Capaldi actually does regenerate before Christmas.

Or we just need to stop over-thinking things and make ourselves a cuppa tea.

Elsewhere in the trailer, we see new companion Bill (Pearl Mackie) get excited that a robot speaks emoji, Nardole (Matt Lucas) being... Nardole, and Missy (Michelle Gomez) striking a pose.

Doctor Who returns to BBC One on April 15.
