Yahoo News Doctor Who's Russell T Davies explains Dalek absence in new series
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has explained why there are no Daleks in the upcoming series of the sci-fi programme.
One of the titular Time Lord's most iconic enemies, the Daleks are a fictional race of extremely xenophobic mutants, intent on 'exterminating' anyone that isn't also, well, a Dalek.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Davies revealed exactly why the Daleks don't feature in the "new" era.

"There's one or two little hark backs. It's very new. Ncuti's new. Millie's new. And it was new to us with Disney and the whole new era.
"So there are no Daleks, there are no Cybermen. I didn't want to look back too much."
Continuing, Davies conceded that although he does "love" the Daleks, he thinks Doctor Who has suffered from an over-saturation of them in recent years.
"I do think we've had a lot of Daleks lately, because [Chris]Chibnall's Christmas specials have all been Daleks, so I think they've been done a lot. So I think people expect them every year now. I think they need a good pause.
"It's kind of eyes on the new stuff. We do some brilliant things with that. So hopefully there's some enemies and things that will become new classics, but it's always good to move on."

Before Ncuti Gatwa steps into the role of the Doctor alongside new companian Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), David Tennant will be returning for the show's 60th anniversary specials as the Fourteenth Doctor.
The specials also feature fan favourite character Donna Noble (played by Catherine Tate), and Heartstopper's Yasmin Finney as Rose Temple.
Although the plots of the three specials are still unconfirmed, Neil Patrick Harris will star as classic villain The Toymaker and Miriam Margolyes will voice the adorable alien, Beep The Meep.
Doctor Who returns for three 60th anniversary specials, beginning with 'The Star Beast' on November 25. The show airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere.
