Avengers 4 has finally finished shooting and we've got a picture of the cake to prove it.

While Avengers: Infinity War is on the horizon, due out in cinemas on April 27 this year, the as-yet untitled sequel, which we'll finally get a glimpse of on April 26, 2019 is now also complete.

The two movies were shot back-to-back, making speculation about where one ends and the other begins very difficult. Shooting this way meant that guessing who dies in Infinity War, for example, based on who was and was not on the set of Avengers 4, was a no-go.

Given that, fans have had to find other ways to speculate on the plot of the mega superhero mash-up that will feature the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and everyone and his dog. Like, is it a time travel movie?

Enter: the cake!

(Here's a look from a slightly different angle.)

On this magnificent cake, we see Thanos and the Infinity Stones being held aloft by three arms. On the base of the cake are five symbols. These represent, from left to right, Hulk (for one scary moment we thought this was a Hyperion symbol, which looks similar, but we quickly calmed down), Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow.

What does this reveal? Well, probably nothing other than that the people working on Avengers 4 like cake.

However, that hasn't stopped fans from speculating.

"Are those the hands of the people who die in Infinity War?!" said one user.

Another suggested:

"3 arms = 3 Survived? Oh no, maybe, maybe not.

"3 arms = 3 Heros that save the day?

"3 Arms = 3 people Lost?

"3 Arms = 3 Avengers Teams?

"3 Arms = The 3rd Avenger Movie?"

Though two of the arms look like they are Black Widow and Hulk, it's not clear who the third belongs to. And given a Black Widow movie has just begun moving forward, it does seem like a rather odd choice to kill her off.

"We are all making theories from a damn cake what have infinity war done to us," added one fan.

Yup.
