“Dog Man” Trailer: Pete Davidson Voices a Villainous Cat Fighting a Hero Police Dog Who's Half Human
'Dog Man' is based on the books by 'Captain Underpants' author Dav Pilkey
Pete Davidson voices a feline foe in an action-packed new animated movie.
Based on the bestselling book series by Captain Underpants author Dav Pilkey that kicked off in 2016, Dog Man is about a "faithful police dog and his human police officer owner," who become "injured together on the job," per a synopsis.
Then, "a harebrained but life-saving surgery fuses the two of them together, and Dog Man is born. Dog Man is sworn to protect and serve — and fetch, sit and roll over."
Dog Man makes it his mission to impress his Chief (Lil Rel Howery) as he tries to "stop the pretty evil plots of feline supervillain Petey the Cat (Davidson)."

"Petey’s latest plan is to clone himself, creating the kitten Lil Petey, to double his ability to do crime stuff," teases the synopsis. "Things get complicated, though, when Lil Petey forges an unexpected bond with Dog Man."
Dog Man is directed by Peter Hastings, and the voice cast also features Isla Fisher, Poppy Liu, Stephen Root, Billy Boyd and Ricky Gervais.
The new film comes after Pilkey's other books were adapted for the big screen with 2017's Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. That starred Kevin Hart, Thomas Middleditch and Ed Helms. The next Dog Man book, Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, is out Dec. 3.
Dog Man is in theaters Jan. 31.
