This poor pooch had a lucky escape after being found abandoned with a blade lodged deep in his neck.

The Johnston Bull Terrier was found bleeding heavily from his head by a member of the public in Edinburgh.

The Scottish SPCA was called and took the dog to the vet, where a blade was found in his neck.

Despite the injuries, he survived and is now in a stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Scottish SPCA senior inspector John Toule said: “We were alerted to the Johnston Bull Terrier around 8am on January 7.

“After taking the dog to a vet, a blade was discovered lodged deep within the dog’s neck.
