Dog Walker Dies After Pug Pulls Him In Front Of A Car

A dog walker has died after the animal pulled him on to a road into the path of a car.

The man, in his 60s, suffered a head injury after his dog, believed to be similar to a pug, ran across Low Road in Dovercourt, Essex on Monday evening.

He returned home after the incident but soon felt unwell and died later in hospital. Essex Police said the dog was unharmed.

Police said the dog’s lead caused damage to the car and the driver stopped to obtain the dog walker’s details before driving off.

DS Dave Jones of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “A man has sadly died following this incident and I’m appealing to the woman driving the car to urgently get in contact with us so we can find out what happened.

“I’m also keen to speak to anyone who saw the dog-walker, before or after the incident. He was walking his dog which is similar to a Pug. The dog is safe and unharmed.”
