Fire crews safely rescued two dogs caught inside a burning building. The pooches were stuck inside a house after a fire broke out at the property in Yeovil earlier today (Monday, October 21).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was caused by unattended cooking. A neighbour reported smelling smoke and could hear a smoke alarm go off in the property. Crews from Yeovil and Sherborne fire stations were sent to the scene.

Using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, a smoke clearance fan and a thermal imaging camera, firefighters managed to put out the blaze before it spread to cause serious damage.

  • Smoke clearance fan

  • Thermal image camera

"Fire crews rescued 2 dogs from the property. The cause of the fire was cooking left unattended. There was minimal fire damage to the property and 20 per cent smoke damage to the property."
