The death of Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan is not being treated as suspicious, Scotland Yard said today.

Police said an investigation into the death of the musician in a Park Lane hotel room had not found anything suspicious and the inquiry was being passed to a coroner.

The 46-year-old musician was in London for a recording session when she died suddenly at the London Hilton hotel.

The Irish singer was found at 9.05am yesterday. Detectives from Westminster investigated the sudden death which was at first described as “unexplained.”

A friend has told how Ms O’Riordan phoned him the previous evening when she sounded “full of life.”

The singer had been due record a cover of Cranberries hit Zombie with hard rock band Bad Wolves in London today.

Music producer Dan Waite said: “Dolores left me a voice message just after midnight last night stating how much she loved Bad Wolves version of Zombie; she was looking forward to seeing me in the studio and recording vocals.

“She sounded full of life, was joking and excited to see me and and my wife this week. The news of her passing is devastating and my thoughts are with Don her ex-husband, her children, and her mother.”

Last year the singer told how she had been battling depression and mental health troubles for much of her career, culminating in an attempt on her own life in 2013.

She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2015, and has also spoken of struggling with eating disorders and alcoholism.

The Cranberries said they are “devastated” at the death of their former band member, saying “the world has lost a true artist”.
