Food fans looking for something fun to do over the weekend could head to the sunny hills of Milngavie to enjoy a boozy disco brunch with a difference.

Featuring top food, Karen Dunbar and Mash DJing in the back of his famous Land Rover, as well as a big see-through dome it's sure to be fun.

Taking place at Hillhead Farm on Saturday (June 8) from 12 pm, people looking to attend can grab their tickets online before hitching a ride on the free shuttle bus from Milngavie station, which will take them there and back.

The team behind the event are mums Kirsty Robertson and Yvonne Henderson and their trusty classic VW Champer Camper – they travel the country selling epic cocktails and fizz but are now stepping up to put their own gigs on too.

Kirsty said: “Yvonne and I ran another wee business called Muglife. This was born out of the pandemic to ‘connect’ families with family run businesses by creating events (coffee mornings, family fun days, parent meet ups, brunches and markets).

“We initially became friends through my partner, Colin and Yvonne’s husband, Martyn (they know each other from ‘raving’ back in the day).

“We have worked with Hillhead Farm in their utterly brilliant Geodesic Dome in Torrance before, doing some corporate events for them.

"You might have seen them on Landward and they’ll be on This Farming Life soon too! You might even see BBC cameras at the event.

“We had a meeting a while back and decided that it would be super cool to put on a brunch as it’s the most incredible venue and people need to experience it! It’s utterly magical. The event is for everyone, especially those who love a daytime party and can be tucked up in front of the telly by 9pm - hello tired parents!”

And it's not just day time clubbing and epic scenery people can look forward to, the duo confirmed there will be epic food on offer too.

Kirsty said: “Throughout our time working in events we’ve made some really lovely connections with vendors and we have the most amazing offering.

"We have the Wee Taqueria providing the main course - delicious tacos (veggie and vegan catered for)! You might recognise a famous face in their vintage horse box! Ryan Fletcher from River City. We’ve got the amazing TalkingCrepe doing the best desserts!

“The Champer Camper will of course be providing drinks, Prosecco (two included in the ticket price), Champagne (we have house champagne and we have also partnered with Moet for that premium tipple), we have our special espresso martinis from our in house Mixologist, Tasha.

"We also have very tasty non-alcoholic drinks and incredible iced coffees. Hillhead will be providing their horsebox who will have beer on tap and a spirit bar.”

When it comes to the tunes, there's one of Scotland’s most respected DJs, and the queen of comedy combining to create a unique line-up.

Kirsty added: “The atmosphere creators… Karen Dunbar and DJ Mash. Karen will be DJing out of the back of Mash’s Compact Disco Defender - you’ve never experienced anything like this - one of the funniest women alive playing bangers and slinging patter at you out the back of a Disco Land Rover Defender.

"She is incredibly talented on the decks and with her quick tongue. You really will get a midday mouthful. Mash is one of the most well known DJs in Scotland with millions of downloads on soundcloud. He also runs a Land Rover festival called DefenderJam.

“To add to the vibes of the day, we will have a Tarot reader, as well as Vanilla Velo the ice cream trike and also BlinkBeauty will be there doing welded bracelets and selling beautiful jewellery. “We think there is something for everyone.”

You can get a £5 discount – buy now for £45 by heading to the event website.
