Dominic Madar missing: Police searching for British man who vanished while travelling in Europe

Police have launched a search for a British man who went missing while travelling in Europe.

Dominic Madar had intended to travel between the capital cities of Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.

He left his home in Tonbridge, Kent, on 14 January.

Mr Madar was last seen when he attended the British Embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 1 February where he told officials he had been robbed, police said.

Kent Police said he also contacted someone in Budapest that day to ask for a place to stay but it is not known if he travelled to the Hungarian capital.

The 27-year-old was believed to be without any money or a phone and is known to have stayed in Vienna and Bratislava, the force said.

Mr Madar, who is white and described as being around 6ft tall with a slim build and dark brown hair, has not been seen or heard from since and concerns are growing for his welfare, police added.

Police are appealing for people who met Mr Madar on his travels to get in touch with any information about his whereabouts.

“There are growing concerns for Dominic’s welfare and Kent Police has been in liaison with a number of foreign embassies as part of ongoing enquiries to locate him,” a spokesman added.

“Appeals for information have been circulated in embassies and hostels, at locations where he may have travelled to and stayed.

“Officers are now urging friends, or people who may have met Dominic on his travels and who have now returned home, to get in touch if they have heard from him or have any information.”
