Dominik Szoboszlai has become a crucial part of Liverpool’s team. The midfielder was signed by Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2023 as part of his midfield rebuild.

The Hungarian footballer has continued to play a prominent part of Arne Slot’s side in an advanced midfield role. He is likely to feature when Liverpool travel to Brentford this afternoon.

Szoboszlai appears happily settled in the UK now but admitted in his early months that it wasn’t entirely straightforward. He said: “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel lonely sometimes.

“There are days when I’m just sitting on the couch wondering about what to do. Then I put on a movie and try to fall asleep, hoping for tomorrow.”

When he joined Liverpool in August 2023, Szoboszlai was in a long-term relationship with Fanni Gécsek. Fanni is also a talented athlete as she competed in ITF tennis tournaments from 2017 - 2019. She is also the owner of Balmor Beauty, a cosmetic business based in Budapest and has degrees in marketing and international sport management.

Szoboszlai is now in a relationship with Hungarian influencer, Borka Buzsik. Borka is also a graduate of Corvinus University of Budapest, a private research university which primarily focuses on business administration, economics, and social sciences.

Borka posted a picture of herself on her Instagram page smiling at her graduation ceremony in March 2022 with the caption: “It’s over.” Borka went public with her relationship with the Liverpool footballer back in July this year after Hungary’s exit from the Euros in the group stages.

The pair enjoyed a sun-filled holiday on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Borka shared several pictures of herself with Szoboszlai during the trip and captioned the post: “Dreamy days.”

Less than four months later, Szoboszlai announced he had proposed to Borka and she had accepted. Taking to Instagram, he shared the exciting news with his 2.6m followers as his fiancée flashed her ring at the camera.

The Liverpool midfielder proposed at the Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace in Budapest. The Instagram post shows the smiling couple posing for the camera with a brightly-lit Budapest in the background. Szoboszlai captioned the post: "She said Yes!" Fans and friends offered up their congratulations in the comments.

Szoboszlai has also spoken of his pride about his home nation as he claimed his celebrity status would never alter his personality. He said: "I love to be Hungarian. It’s a proud thing that I can play in the Premier League, but of course as a Hungarian you have to prove yourself, because if you're Hungarian, nobody looks at you as if you were from Spain, from Italy, from England, so as a Hungarian, if you can do it, it’s even better.

"I will be the same person, when I was 13 and lived in a one room apartment with my family. I'm the same guy I was before, and I will never, never change."
