Domino’s Is Starting Pizza Deliveries By Drone This Year

Ordering a pizza delivery could be about to get a lot faster - after a successful trial of pizza delivery by drone in New Zealand.

Domino’s conducted a successful demo on Thursday, and said it hoped to launch a service later this year.

Drones are legal to use for deliveries in New Zealand - and experts suggest that the craft could rapidly replace current delivery methods.

Amazon is already testing drone deliveries within the UK - and hopes to offer a service delivering goods to people’s locations, via their smartphone.

Deutsche Bank published a note earlier this year suggesting it could be extremely cheap - and could rapidly replace current delivery methods.

Deutsche Bank suggest that Amazon will be able to offer deliveries within an hour, costing less than 70p, once the service is up and running.

Deutsche Bank said, ‘Robots and drones would reduce this to near-zero immediately and allow for much faster delivery times.

‘Once the regulatory hurdles are cleared, Amazon is likely to ramp up using robots and drones for delivery significantly.’
