Rising star Timothée Chalamet will donate his entire salary from Woody Allen’s new film to charity in the wake of sexual abuse allegations against the director.

The Bafta-nominated actor is the latest star to distance himself from Allen, saying that he doesn’t not want to personally profit from his role in upcoming film, A Rainy Day in New York.

“I don’t want to profit from my work on the film, and to that end, I am going to donate my entire salary to three charities: TIME’S UP, The LGBT Center in New York and RAINN,” he said in a lengthy Instagram post.

“I want to be worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with the brave artists who are fighting for all people to be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.”

Prolific director Allen has been accused by his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow of sexually assaulting her when she was a child, a claim which he vehemently denies.

The Call Me By Your Name star said that this year has “changed the way I see and feel about so many things”.

He admitted that he hadn’t been able to answer questions about working with Allen over the summer due to “contractual obligations”.

Chalamet added: “I am learning that a good role isn’t the only criteria for accepting a job – that has become much clearer to me in the past few months, having witnesses the birth of a movement intent on ending injustice, inequality and above all, silence.”

His co-star Rebecca Hall also announced that she would be donating her fee for the film to charity in the wake of the allegations, following in the footsteps of Griffin Newman.

Greta Gerwig recently admitted that she regretted working with Allen on 2012’s To Rome With Love.
