It’s the scandal Donald Trump can’t seem to shake off.

The President has been uncharacteristically quiet in public about his alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels – leaving a firm denial to be issued via his spokesperson on Monday afternoon and keeping his Twitter feed clear of any direct reference to the claims.

But, behind closed doors, Trump is apparently telling aides that Daniels – real name Stephanie Clifford – is ‘not the type of woman he finds attractive’.

Ms Daniels repeated claims she had a sexual encounter with Trump during an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes on Sunday.

She also told host Anderson Cooper that she was threatened to keep quiet over their alleged affair while she was with her daughter in Las Vegas.

Trump did not comment specifically on the interview, but possibly alluded to it in a tweet on Monday morning.

He wrote: ‘So much Fake News. Never been more voluminous or more inaccurate.

According to the Washington Post, Trump has been more open, reportedly asking White House staff what they thought of the interview

An insider told the paper that the President ‘did not think Ms Daniels appeared credible’.

While the President has not commented directly, White House press secretary Raj Shah has categorically denied the claims.

He said: ‘The President strongly, clearly and has consistently denied these underlying claims.

‘The only person who’s been inconsistent is the one making the claims.’
