President Donald Trump’s overall health is ‘excellent’ and he performed ‘exceedingly well’ on cognitive screening, the US Navy doctor who conducted his first medical check-up has claimed.

Ronny Jackson issued a declaration yesterday that the US president was in ‘excellent health’ after the examination last Friday, and released specific details of his weight and blood pressure.

Mr Jackson reported that the 6ft 3in President weighed 239lb (just over 17st or 108kg), three pounds heavier than he was in September 2016, the last time he revealed his weight to the public.

His blood pressure, meanwhile, was recorded at 122 over 74, and his total cholesterol was 223, which is higher than recommended.

But it has also been noted that he has a BMI of 29.9lbs – meaning that he is extremely close to an ‘obese’ BMI of 30.

Despite being the oldest person ever elected to the presidency at 70-years-old, Mr Trump’s heart exam was also normal with regular rhythm and no abnormal sounds – with Dr Jackson concluding that Trump has a ‘very strong and a very probable possibility of making it completely through his presidency with no medical issues.’

‘He’s very sharp. He’s very articulate when he speaks to me,’ Dr Jackson said of Trump’s cognitive abilities.

‘I’ve never known him to repeat himself when he’s around me. I found no reason whatsoever to think the president has any issues whatsoever with his thought process.’

Dr Jackson has prescribed a diet lower in fat and carbohydrates, and exercise and said he would like the president to lose 10 to 15lb over the next year.

Despite the diet and cholesterol concerns, Dr Jackson also stressed that Mr Trump’s “cardiac health is excellent.”

The examination is at odds with Michael Wolff’s claims in his explosive account of Trump’s Presidency, having alleged that the US President was constantly forgetting key facts and sentences.
