Donald Trump said he would have “slept with Princess Diana without hesitation” in a newly-surfaced radio interview.

The US President said the Princess of Wales “was crazy” but that it was a “minor detail” as she was “supermodel beautiful” when he appeared on controversial DJ Howard Stern’s radio show in 2000 – just three years after she was killed in a Paris car crash.

“I tell you what, I think she’s magnificent, Lady Di was truly a woman with great beauty,” Mr Trump said.

When asked by the presenter if he would have slept with Princess Diana, he responded: “Without even hesitation. She was truly beautiful and people don’t realise how beautiful.

“She was supermodel beautiful, she had the height, she had the beauty, she had the skin, the whole thing.”

He then added: “She was crazy but you know these are minor details.”

The audio was anonymously sent to website Factbase, according to the Washington Post.

Mr Trump had called into the show to discuss his top 10 hottest women list with the DJ.

Princess Diana was third on his list, after his ex-wife Ivana in second and his current wife and First Lady Melania Trump was first.

In the audio clip, he said he would “bang” Mariah Carey “without hesitation” and that he thought model Cindy Crawford was “very attractive” and that he would sleep with her “without question”.

Princess Diana and Mr Trump met occasionally at charity functions including when they shared a table at a 1995 dinner in Manhattan where she was honoured with the United Cerebral Palsy Humanitarian of the Year award.

Former BBC broadcaster Selina Scott, who has a long-running feud with Mr Trump, claimed he actually gave Diana “the creeps”.

She once told the Sunday Times that Mr Trump bombarded Diana with flowers after the breakdown of her marriage to Prince Charles and that he saw her as the “ultimate trophy wife.”

In his 1997 book The Art of the Comeback, Mr Trump wrote of his admiration for the Princess of Wales and said: “I only have one regret in the women department – that I never had the opportunity to court Lady Diana Spencer.

“I met her on a number of occasions. I couldn’t help but notice how she moved people. She lit up the room with her charm, her presence. She was a genuine princess – a dream lady.”
