Donald Trump and wife Melania have released their first official Christmas photo since moving into the White House.

The president is seen smiling in a black tuxedo for the portrait, while the First Lady has a sparkly black dress on.

Either side of them are two snow-covered Christmas trees, with silver tinsel adorning the large wooden door behind them in the Cross Hall of the White House.

Melania Trump released the picture on Twitter and thanked photographer Andrea Hanks. She wrote: “Merry Christmas from President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.”

The Obamas broke with tradition for their final White House Christmas photo in 2016, by having daughters Malia and Sasha pose with them.

The Trumps did not pose with family, but their son Barron, 11, signed his name underneath his parents on their first greeting card released in late November.
