Donald Trump promises Kim Jong-un he'll stay in power if he gives up his nuclear weapons
Donald Trump has reportedly promised Kim Jong-un that he’ll stay in power if he agrees to scrap nuclear weapons.
Mr Trump is believed to have offered a guarantee that Kim Jong-un will remain in power if he gives up his nuclear weapons.
The US President is said to have told reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that the North Korean leader “will get protections that will be very strong” if he agrees.
Mr Trump reportedly said: “He’d be in his country and running his country. His country would be very rich.”
North Korea has reportedly threatened to cancel a summit set for next month, describing it as “one-sided”.
The regime has reportedly voiced concerns that it could go the same way as Libya after Colonel Gaddafi was toppled in a NATO-backed revolution.

According to reports, Mr Trump has said he could assure Kim Jong-un that the same would not happen to him, but it could be a possibility if the North Korean leader refuses.
Mr Trump reportedly said: “The Libyan model isn’t a model that we have (in mind) at all when we’re thinking of North Korea” but warned that a similar situation was “most likely” if the summit doesn’t happen.
