Donald Trump Says “There’s No Way” Taylor Swift Could Endorse Joe Biden Amid Super Bowl Controversy
Donald Trump penned a message pleading Taylor Swift to not endorse Joe Biden on Sunday amid right-wing conspiracy theories surrounding the pop star’s political agenda and the Super Bowl.
In his message, posted on his social media platform just hours before the game’s kickoff, Trump claimed he was responsible for Swift’s financial success, citing his 2018 singing of the Music Modernization Act, which updated copyright law for music streaming (though the former president falsely referred to the legislation as “the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists”).

Swift is expected to appear in the stands at Sunday’s game in support of her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will face off for the NFL championship at 3:30 pm PT.
A New York Times report at the end of January noted that the singer’s romance with the NFL player had incensed certain corners of the MAGA movement who are worried about Trump’s chances in the fall. Another Times report also noted that Swift would be “the endorsement of [the Biden campaign’s] wildest dreams,” leading to conspiracy theories that Swift’s relationship with Kelce is fake, and that her NFL fandom is part of a scripted plan to endorse the current president this weekend.
“Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will,” Trump continued on Sunday in a backhanded plea for her to not endorse the incumbent. “There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money.”
Trump finished his message by writing, “Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis, even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me!”
