Pelosi rejects calls for Trump impeachment after Mueller testimony: 'We still have some outstanding matters’
Nancy Pelosi and other senior member of the Democratic Party, have rejected calls to move forward with Donald Trump’s impeachment, claiming they wanted to yet build a stronger case against the president.In a seemingly testy appearance before reporters just hours after Robert Mueller completed his testimony, the House speaker brushed off the idea proceeding with impeachment of the president - something many in her party have called for.“My position has always been: whatever decision we make in that regard would have to be done with our strongest possible hand, and we still have some outstanding matters in the courts,” she said.More follows…
US President Donald Trump has said that some Democrat congresswomen from countries “whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe” should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came”.
While it was not explicitly clear to whom he was referring, it came after the president launched an extraordinary attack on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar – both women of colour – saying he “doesn’t even know where they came from”.
