Donald Trump has said former Vice President Joe Biden would "go down fast and hard crying all the way" in an astonishing threat of physical violence after Biden said Trump deserved a beating for crude comments about women.

Joe Biden said yesterday he would "beat the hell out of" Trump if they were in high school together, over reports of the President's crude comments about women.

Trump tweeted today: "Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy.

"Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault.

"He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don’t threaten people Joe!

Mr Biden made the remarks during a speech at the University of Miami's 'It's On Us' rally which is aimed at "creating an environment where sexual assault and gender based violence is unacceptable," reports the Washington Post.

During his time as vice-president, he was a strong advocate for tackling sexual assault on college campuses.

During the Oscars in 2017, he introduced Lady Gaga's performance which featured victims of sexual assault singing alongside her. Mr Biden called for a change to the victim blame culture surrounding rape.

He said: “Despite significant progress over the last few years, too many women and men on and off college campuses are victims of sexual abuse.

”We must and we can change the culture so that no abused woman or man - like the survivors you see here tonight - ever feel like they have to ask themselves, 'What did I do?' They did not do anything wrong.”

This isn't the first time Joe Biden has made similar comments about Trump.

During a campaign rally for Hillary Clinton in 2016, Biden said: “The press always ask me, ‘Don’t I wish I were debating him?’ No, I wish we were in high school – I could take him behind the gym. That’s what I wish.”

Following the Charlottesville violence in 2017, Biden branded Trump's presidency as a "tragedy" for the American republic adding that Trump is "doing great damage."

There has been speculation that Mr Biden, 74, may run for presidency in 2020 despite him publicly denying any concrete plans.
