Donald Trump's granddaughter goes viral in China after charming Xi Jinping with Mandarin song

Donald Trump’s six-year-old granddaughter has played a part in solidifying ties between the US and China, after a video of her singing traditional Chinese and songs and reciting classic poetry was shown to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Arabella Kushner, the daughter of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, performed in footage that was played to President Xi during his meeting with the U.S. President yesterday afternoon.

And it seemed that President Xi was suitably impressed, giving Arabella an ‘A-plus’ for the performance and claiming that she is considered a ‘child star’ in the country.

In February Ivanka Trump posted a video of Arabella singing in Chinese to mark the Lunar New Year last February, with the clip going viral in China.

The gesture marked a friendly tone for President Trump’s visit to Asia, where he has largely toned down his notoriously fiery rhetoric during meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and China’s Jinping.

Speaking at an event in Beijing, however, he encouraged China to up pressure on North Korea, with tensions increasing over the hermit state’s determination to pursue nuclear weapons.

‘The US is committed to the complete and permanent de-nuclearisation of North Korea’, Trump said.

‘China can fix this problem easily and quickly and I am calling on China and your great president to hopefully work on it very hard.

‘If he works on it hard, it will happen, there’s no doubt about it.’
