Don't Tell the Bride pulls off Hogwarts wedding for Harry Potter novice
A new episode of Don't Tell The Bride: Ireland saw one brave groom pull off an extravagant Harry Potter-themed wedding - despite the fact his partner had never read the books or even seen the movies.
Monday night's episode (January 14) saw Potterhead Brendan arrange a Hogwarts-themed bash for his Mexican boyfriend, Victor; complete with cauldrons, wands, owls and broomsticks - regardless of Victor's pretty explicit wishes that he wanted something more traditional.
"If he comes up with a Harry Potter theme for the day I will literally kill him," Victor said previously.
Following Victor's warning, Brendan went ahead with the Potter theme anyway, choosing to stage the wedding on a train platform in Clonakilty, Ireland in homage to Platform nine-and-three-quarters followed by a reception inspired by the Great Hall in Hogwarts.
Initially unimpressed and adamant the wedding wouldn't go ahead with such a theme, Victor eventually came around and agreed to wear his Harry-Potter-in-Gyffindor-uniform costume to the ceremony, while Brendan dressed in the uniform of rival house, Slytherin.
And, after all that fuss, Victor actually loved it.
"He just gave me a fairytale wedding in Brendan's own version," he said. "I'm just happy to marry this man.
"I think we're just ready to go and watch a Harry Potter movie now."
Aww.
Don't Tell The Bride: Ireland continues next Monday (January 21) on E4.
