Former Premier League star Ben Foster has picked which goalkeeper he believes is best between Alisson Becker and Ederson.

Alisson and Ederson often battle for the No.1 spot in the Brazil national team. The Liverpool goalkeeper was given the nod at the Copa America in the summer as well as the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

Liverpool have had Alisson as their No.1 goalkeeper ever since he signed from Roma in 2018 in a deal worth £65 million. The fee was a world record for a goalkeeper at the time the Reds brought Alisson to Anfield, only for the record to be broken by Chelsea a few weeks later with the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao in a deal reportedly worth £71 million.

Manchester City signed Ederson from Benfica in 2017, a year before Liverpool brought Alisson to Anfield. Ever since the duo have been competing in the Premier League, there have been frequent comparisons between the pair.

Foster, who has 390 Premier League appearances across his career, explained why it was difficult to choose who is the better goalkeeper between Alisson and Ederson.

“They’re different. This is the beauty of it," said Foster while appearing on his YouTube channel Ben Foster - The Cycling GK. "There’s nobody who could do a better job for Man City than Ederson.

“There’s nobody, I don’t think, who could do a better job for Liverpool than Alisson! I’ll go Ederson."

After six years as a Liverpool player, Alisson remains the club's No.1 goalkeeper but the Reds started planning for life after the Brazilian in the summer. Liverpool completed the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, and the Georgia international will now spend the remainder of the campaign on loan with the La Liga club before officially moving to Merseyside next summer.
