DC's Doom Patrol is gearing up to release its second season on American streaming services DC Universe and the newly released HBO Max.

After all the crazy events that happened in season 1, the second run looks set to ramp things up even more with the introduction of a new character, Dorothy Spinner.

Dorothy is the daughter of Timothy Dalton's The Chief, with the incredible power to bring her imaginary friends into existence. She is named after The Wizard of Oz's Dorothy Gale, and the poser revealing her appearance really leans into that imagery.

Entertainment Weekly has another image of Dorothy alongside Robotman, and has revealed that season 2's first episode will also feature another guest appearance from Supernatural star Mark Sheppard as the detective William Kipling.

Doom Patrol's showrunner Jeremy Carver previously co-ran Supernatural, and said that his experience on The CW show helped him prepare himself for working on DC's most out-there project yet.

"There's a multitude of things" Jeremy said, "you can go anywhere you want to go with the show in terms of craziness, even into a person's brain, and as long as your characters stay true to themselves, it will work.

"That was a lesson very much learned on Supernatural and the places we went there, that I took and applied to Doom Patrol."

Recently, DC Universe's Swamp Thing (which was axed after airing just one episode) was given a new home on The CW due to the lack of new TV shows being produced.

Doom Patrol is available in the UK through Starz on Amazon Prime.
